TUCSON, Ariz.- Seniors Dana Burkholder and Jill Talbot, along with Junior Lisa Rutledge have all been named All-Pacific Region, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced today. This season represents the third consecutive year the Wildcats have had at least two players named to the team, but the first time ever UA has had three players recognized. The all-region honor is the first for both Talbot and Rutledge and the third straight for Burkholder. By garnering the honor, all three players are now on the ballot for All-American recognition as well

Burkholder, Arizona's starting setter and floor leader, continues the 2001 season having already dished out 1,220 assists, a 13.02 apg average. She has guided the Wildcat offense to an impressive .304 hitting percentage in 27 matches, while also hitting .367 individually. Burkholder is Arizona's first ever three-time all-region honoree.

Talbot, the Pac-10 leader in hitting percentage at .430, has been a consistent offensive force on the right side for Arizona all season long. The four-year starter has averaged 11 kills, nine digs and four assists in 2001 and has played every point in every game for Arizona this year.

Rutledge is enjoying a breakout year for Arizona this season. The outside hitter has already recorded career-highs with 390 kills, a 4.20 kpg average and a .282 hitting percentage. She became just the 11th player in school history to tally 1,000 kills in a career last weekend in Arizona's NCAA Tournament First Round match against Eastern Illinois.

Arizona continues its postseason play this weekend against 12th-ranked Pacific in the tournament's Sweet Sixteen in Los Angeles. The Cats and Tigers will meet at 5 p.m. PST in the L.A. Sports Arena. Arizona fans can listen to Pacific's Internet radio broadcast of the match by going to their home page www.pacifictigers.com.
