TUCSON, Ariz.- Former Arizona volleyball players Kim Glass and Jennifer Abernathy have been picked up by professional volleyball teams and will begin their international careers immediately.
Glass, an outside hitter, is playing in Santeramo, Italy, for Sport Society Alfieri Volley Santeramo.
Abernathy, also an outside hitter, is playing in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Tonight, she will face former teammate Shannon Torregrosa, who plays for a team in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
Glass, the co-MVP of the Stanford regional, was a three-time All-American and four-time All-Pac-10 pick. She is Arizona’s career leader and ranks third all-time in the Pac-10 in kills with 2,151.
Abernathy, who was named to the all-tournament team at the Stanford regional, was a third team All-American and was selected to the All-Pac-10 team for the first time in her career. She ranked second on the team in kills (4.11) and digs (3.33), posted 17 double-doubles on the year and was named Pac-10 Player of the Week once.
