Corvallis, Ore. (Feb. 13) - The No. 14 University of Arizona women's gymnastics team (6-2, 2-2 Pac-10) dropped a close Pac-10 meet to No. 19 Oregon State (4-6, 2-2 Pac-10), 196.700-196.950, Friday night before a crowd of 3754 at Oregon State's Gill Coliseum. With Arizona's team score of 196.700, the seventh-best mark in school history, the Wildcats posted a score of 196 or better in three-consecutive meets for the first time in school history.
Arizona captured team-event titles on both vault (49.250) and floor (49.325), and managed scores of 49.150 on bars, and 48.975 on beam. The Wildcats' vault mark of 49.250 is the ninth-best score in school history, but only the team's third best score on the event this season.
Individually for Arizona, juniors Katie Johnson and Monica Bisordi shared top honors on floor (9.900), and senior Andi McCabe and sophomore Abby Pearson earned top honors on vault (9.900). Bisordi also tied for fifth on bars (9.825), and finished fourth in the all-around (38.875), while Johnson finished fourth on vault (9.875), and McCabe placed fourth on floor (9.875).
Freshman Aubrey Taylor placed third in the all-around competition (39.175), and finished fourth on bars (9.850). Junior Jamie Duce earned third-place honors on bars (9.875), and finished fifth on floor (9.850).
Senior Sheehan Lemley chipped in a 9.875 on beam for a third place, and a 9.825 on bars for fifth-place honors.
Arizona returns to Tucson and will host Pac-10 rival Washington on Friday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. (MST) in McKale Center.
