            Shelby becomes UA's defensive graduate assistant in July 2007. He has been working with the program as an office aide since the beginning of spring practice.

            He came to Arizona from Oklahoma, where he has served as a student assistant the past two seasons.

            He is a former All-Big 12 defensive back and Big 12 All-Academic honoree at Oklahoma, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business management in 2004 and a master’s in human relations in 2005. He was a four-year letterman for the Sooners from 2001-04.

            Shelby participated in the inaugural Future Coaches Academy in San Antonio in January 2007, a workshop held in conjunction with the NCAA, American Football Coaches Association, the Black Coaches Association and the National Football League

            Shelby was recruited out of Kansas City as a standout two-way player, and redshirted at running back his first year. By his senior year he was one of the Sooners’ top versatile defenders as a nickel or dime back. In 2002 he tied a then OU record with four sacks for a defensive back.

            He earned second-team Academic All-Big 12 honors as a senior in 2004 and sophomore in 2002.
