Postgame Quotes

Arizona Head Coach Niya Butts
Opening statement
“It wasn’t pretty, but we came out with the win and that’s what we’re celebrating.”

On breaking down CS Northridge defense:
“We didn’t in the first half, we never broke it down in the first half, we were waiting for it to magically turn it around, but then we began to realize that we had to impose our will, but we came out in the second and played with more energy.”

On what the Wildcats focused on coming in:
“To have more energy, to really get at it defensively and to put more emphasis on the transition game, and once we got our transition game going that allowed us to settle in the half court and get things done.”

On what the Wildcats need to improve on:
“We will continue to work on defense and rebounding and we need to focus on taking care of the ball more. We had 20 turnovers tonight and we can’t have that many when we go to ASU.”

#12 Brooke Jackson
On slow start to game
“Our lack of focus really contributed to our slow start.”

#3 Ify Ibekwe
On the slow start:
“It’s just something that happened. It had to do with our lack of focus, but I don’t think it was because it was a non-conference game.”

On positives:
“Definitely that everyone came in and even though we were off to a slow start, everyone contributed.”
