Arizona Head Coach Joan Bonvicini: “This was definitely not the way we wanted to finish up at home. This was a very disappointing loss.”

“It was back and forth for the most part of the game, then we really broke it open. But they came back and hit some shots on us.”

“We had to sub after our big lead because we were getting tired, and our subs didn’t hold the lead. The intensity was not enough.”

“Our defense needed to be more intense. I don’t know if the offense just tightened up or what.”

“Rebounding was a big issue. Our guards didn’t get to the boards. We were also allowing some second shots on the other end for them. When you don’t rebound the way you want, it makes the transition game harder.”

“We didn’t shoot very well from the free throw line in the first half.”

“I told (the team) that this was disappointing. This isn’t the way the seniors wanted to go out.”

Junior center Shawntinice Polk: “They are a great three-point shooting team. That’s what you focus on when you scout Washington. All their players from the post to the perimeter shoot the ball well. They shot the ball well today and that’s what they do best.”

“I felt good throughout. Close games are fun. When Dee-Dee game back in it gave us a lift offensively and defensively. She’s our senior captain. You can never let yourself get comfortable against a team like Washington. You have to keep playing.”

“It’s hard to drop games like this going into the Pac-10 Tournament. No one likes the feeling of a loss. We have to continue to move forward.”

“We were not getting through screens. They set a lot of high screens. You can’t let them get a lot of good looks from outside. They live and die by the three.”

Senior guard Dee-Dee Wheeler: “I’m okay physically. Polkey threw me a pass and I went up and landed on one of their players. My right ankle is a little sore, but I’ll be fine.”

“Decisions and rebounding  -- that’s were we lost it. We gave up way too many offensive rebounds. We gave them too many second and third chances and letting them keep the ball at their end of the court.”

“Kayla Burt is a great player. She’s been with them for a while. She’s a great shooter and a left-handed shooter at that. She got hot tonight and we didn’t adjust. She really made us pay.”

“We need to take every game seriously. Anyone can beat anyone. We can’t look back now. We need to get the automatic bid by winning the Pac-10 Tournament.”

“Senior Day wasn’t as sad as I expected. I was more upset with the loss than anything. I talked about how I dedicated this season to my grandma, and I’m proud of how I played. Next year I am going to stay close to all my friends on this team. I will be a Wildcat forever.”

Senior center Danielle Adefeso: “It was a tough loss. We beat them last year on their senior night. It’s tough to lose at home. We have to move forward and use this as motivation.”

“We know the game is never over. I had no idea we were up by so much (15 points). This loss isn’t behind us yet, but we can’t dwell on it heading into the Pac-10 Tournament. We can’t take anyone lightly.”

Senior guard Katrina Lindner: “She’s a good player (Kayla Burt). She’s the emotional leader of her team. She hit some big threes that got her team fired up. We kept coming behind screens instead of trailing her and making it tough on her.”

“We pretty much have to run the table now. Today’s loss hurt us in terms of where we fall in the Pac-10. We have to come out and play hard to try and get the NCAA committee to look at us.”

Washington Head Coach June Daugherty: “I just thought our kids were committed to keep playing hard and to not get caught up in the score and adversity. We showed that we are a team of poise down the stretch. We just kept chipping away. That’s what basketball is all about. We showed our maturity tonight.”

“I’m very proud of my team tonight. It’s tough to play here. We played hard as a team tonight.”

“In that run in the second half, they had two field goals. Most of the their points came off of put-backs. Our match-up was pretty effective tonight.”

“We feel great because of the respect we have for Arizona. They always have a big crowd when we come here. We are definitely tired from the Arizona State game, but this is exciting. We want to take this momentum into the Pac-10 Tournament.”
