MANOA, Hawaii -

Arizona volleyball fell to No. 10 Hawaii for its first loss of the season Sunday in front of a home crowd of 5,735 on Sunday. The Rainbow Wahine defeated the Wildcats 12-25, 16-25, 20-25.

"We had poor execution on our side against a really good team," Arizona head coach David Rubio said. "We just didn't handle the environment well and just didn't play well against a really good team."

Senior Cursty Jackson (Los Angeles) led Arizona with nine kills, two aces and two blocks. Senior Marketa Hanzlova (Liberec, Czech Republic) added 10 digs for the Wildcats.

Kanani Danielson paved the way for Hawaii with 11 kills and six digs on the night.

Senior Courtney Karst (Centennial, Colo.) and freshman Madison Kingdon (Phoenix, Ariz.) were two of seven players from the four teams participating in the tournament to be selected to the All-Tournament team.

"It was a good learning experience for us," Rubio said. "The bottom line is, we have to get better and hopefully this prepared us to do that."

The Wildcats will return to Tucson and prepare to host the Wildcat Classic beginning on Friday, Sept. 2 versus Presbyterian at 10:30 a.m. Eastern Washington will play Cal-State Fullerton at 12:30, Presbyterian will face Eastern Washington at 4:30 p.m. and Arizona will be back to face Cal-State Fullerton for a 7 p.m. match.

The tournament will continue on Saturday, Sept. 3, as Cal-State Fullerton will play Presbyterian at 10:30 a.m. and The Wildcats will face Eastern Washington at 12:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are available online at www.ArizonaWildcats.com.
