Arizona Head Coach Lute Olson Quotes

"There is no question that the better team won. Kansas is a veteran basketball team, and you could see the experience. They played a whole lot smarter than we did. The key is that Kansas played with great emotion and poise for 40 minutes. We made a lot of mistakes, and you can't do that against a team like Kansas."

"They shot the ball better because they got better shots. They screened the ball better, and they made good, hard cuts. If we took away the passing lane, they continued to cut harder. And, even when we made some runs, they continued to answer the bell. They had outstanding guard play, and their experience showed."

"We did not do a good job on a lot of things in the first half. We had a lot of blown lay-ins, and that allowed them to get the lead up to where it was in the first half. We also had some situations where we forced the ball way too much."

"We did a much better job in the second half, and the emotion that we showed in the second half is what we need to show for 40 minutes. It was good to see the way our guys battled back in the second half."

Kansas Junior Forward Drew Gooden:

"I am really proud of our team's performance today. This is the loudest place that I have played in my collegiate career so this is a great win. We showed a lot of maturity out on the court today.

"In the first half they couldn't keep up with our transition but in the second half we had some letdowns on defense but were able to hit the buckets to stop their runs.

"This was a high scoring game and we like it like that.

Kansas Guard Brett Ballard:

"I felt alright out there tonight. The three I hit late in the second half was a little lucky. It feels great to beat a great team like Arizona. Now what we are going to have to do is build on this because we have some tough games coming up.

"Arizona has a lot of talent young players and if they keep improving and we keep moving in a positive direction, these two teams could meet in March.

Kansas Junior Forward Nick Collison:

"Tonight was a big win. Not very many teams can win here. It was just really big."

"I think we did alright. We made some big shots when they would make a run. It was big to be able to do that and stay ahead."

"Next we play Wake Forest, and that's another tough team."

Kansas Freshman Guard Aaron Miles:

"We did well and played really good. It's great to go on the road and get a win."

"We will enjoy this win for a long time. It was just great to beat a team this good. It could have gone either way, but we ended up winning."
