TUCSON - Arizona Wildcat men's tennis team members became opponents as they competed for the ITA Mountain Regional singles consolation title.
After fighting off competitors from schools such as Washington State and BYU, sophomore Giacomo Miccini and freshman Carlos Bermudez were the last men standing in the competition. The teammates took a travel day and returned to Tucson to play the final match on their home courts.
At Robson Tennis Center, Bermudez won the first set 6-4. A close second set tied the match as Miccini claimed the win, 7-6 (4). In the final set Miccini clinched the match and the title with a 6-4 victory over Bermudez.
The Cats will be back in action on Nov. 11 as they travel to Sarasota, Fla. for the Lakewood Ranch Collegiate Invitational.
