TUCSON, Ariz.- A slow start put the Arizona's men's golf team in a hole after the first day, but the Wildcats fought back with two solid rounds and ended the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational in 14th place.
The team put together a round of 305 on Tuesday, sixth-best round of any of the 18 teams on day three. Arizona's 909 total put it at +45 for the tournament, 42 strokes behind tournament-winner Georgia, topping second place Alabama by 17 strokes.
Georgia was lead by Russell Henley, who shot a four-under 212 for the tournament and won individual medalist honors. Tarquin MacManus lead the Cats with a 224 (+8) total, placing him in a tie for 23rd in the event.
MacManus and Roberto Galletti each shot a 75 on day three, Galletti's round moving him into a tie for 28th place. Jonathan Khan finished five over on the day, 14-over on the tournament and in a tie for 52nd. Brad Nicholson and Tyler Neal each shot a three-round total of 235 and finished tied for 72nd.
The Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational was played at Isleworth Golf & Country Club, a par 72, 7,544 yard course.
Arizona next will be in action, Nov. 3-5, at the CordeValle Collegiate in San Martin, Calif.
