TUCSON, Ariz.- Kim Glass tied her own school single season record with her 14th match of the year with 20 or more kills, but it wasn't enough as the top-ranked USC volleyball team defeated the Wildcats, 3-1, at McKale on Friday. Game scores were 30-25, 27-30, 30-26, 30-17.
The loss dropped the Wildcats to 12-13 overall on the season and to 6-8 in the Pac-10. The Women of Troy remained perfect on the year with the win at 23-0 overall and 14-0 in the conference.
Neither team posted very impressive numbers on the night, as USC managed just a .188 attack percentage to UA's .117. USC out dug the Wildcats 74 to 68, out blocked them 13 to 11 and posted five aces to Arizona's three.
Led by Kaeo Burdine and April Ross' 14 kills each, four USC players finished the match in double digit kills. Burdine added a match-high tying 18 digs and Ross chipped in with 16 more. Bibiana Candelas, Katie Olsovsky and Emily Adams each posted six totals blocks for the Women of Troy.
Glass' match-high 22 kills and 18 digs led the Wildcats. Sophomore classmate Jennifer Abernathy added 17 kills in losing effort and junior Kelli Mulvany posted her seventh straight match in double digit digs with 15.
The Wildcats, who took just the fourth game of the season off the Women of Troy, will return to the road next weekend with a trip to the Pacific Northwest to take on Oregon State and Oregon on Thursday and Friday. Both matches are set for an 8 pm MST first serve.
