11th annual event begins on Sept. 14
TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The University of Arizona men’s golf junior varsity team opens the 2006-07 season Thursday at the Del Walker Intercollegiate in Long Beach, Calif.
Now in its 11th season, the 14-team event, which is hosted by Long Beach State, is scheduled for Sept. 14-15 at Virginia Country Club, a par-71, 6,631-yard layout. Tee times begin at 7:20 a.m. PDT each day with 36 holes scheduled for Thursday and 18 on Friday.
Joining the Wildcats in the field is Arkansas, Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, Fresno State, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Pacific, Saint Mary’s, San Diego, San Jose State, Santa Clara, UC-Riverside and Texas-San Antonio.
The following players are scheduled to compete for the Arizona junior varsity: junior Creighton Honeck, senior Ben Marsh, sophomore Nicholas Park, senior Brett Carter and senior Josh Wilks.

Arizona returns 14 letterwinners from a squad that finished in 13th place at the 2006 NCAA Championships, which marked the program’s 20th consecutive appearance at the national championship meet. The Wildcats collected two tournament victories, including the 2006 NCAA West Regional.
