Men?s Golf Tied for Seventh Place at Pac-10 Championships

            Tyler tied for sixth place individually

               

TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The University of Arizona men’s golf team tallied a 13-over 733 over 36 holes Monday to stand in a tie for seventh place at the 2007 Pac-10 Championships at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.

 

Arizona’s carded rounds of 369 (+9) and 364 (+4) en route to a 733 total after 36 holes, which places the team in a tie for seventh place.  USC leads the 10-team field by eight strokes after two rounds with a 700 (-20) total.  UCLA (708), Stanford (720), Arizona State (722) and Washington (725) rounded out the top-five places.

 

The Wildcats were led individually by senior Nathan Tyler, who is tied for sixth place at three-under 141.  Tyler, who is the only Wildcat currently under par, posted rounds of 71 and 70 on the day.  His two under-par rounds were two of UA’s three on the day.  USC’s Jamie Lovemark leads the 60-man field with a nine-under 135 total.

 

Brian Prouty is tied for 25th place at two-over 146, two strokes ahead of teammate Creighton Honeck, who is tied for 38th place.  Josh Esler, who collected Arizona’s other under par round ?- a second-round 71 ?- is tied for 43rd place at five-over 149.

 

Josh Wilks is tied for 48th place after totaling a seven-over 151, while Pedro Oriol is tied for 55th place at 10-over 154.

 

The Pac-10 Championships take the low five scores from each six-man team for each round’s total.  The event continues through Wednesday at Eugene Country Club, a par 72, 7,033-yard layout.
