TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona’s Dan Tobias has been named women’s soccer national Coach of the Year by Soccer America magazine.
Tobias, in his second year with the program, guided the Wildcats to their first-ever Pacific-10 title and NCAA Tournament berth. He led Arizona to an overall record of 15-6 and 6-3 in Pac-10 action. With Tobias as head coach, Arizona improved from worst (tied for ninth) to first (Pac-10 co-champions) in just one season, while breaking 31 school records.
"It's a great honor for Coach Tobias and he certainly deserves it," University of Arizona Athletic Director Jim Livengood said. "The job the Wildcat soccer team did in 2004 was tremendous, and his great leadership was instrumental."
Additionally, Tobias was named Pac-10 Coach of the year as well as West Region Coach of the year by NSCAA/Adidas and Soccer Buzz magazine.
