2005-06 Season: Is a six-time returning All-American... Swam the second leg of the championship NCAA 400 medley relay team... Also at the NCAA Championships, set a new school record in the 200 breast with a time of 1:56.07 while finishing seventh overall and finished 10th in the 100  breast ( (53.55)...  Against Arizona State, finished first in the 100 breast (54.79) and swam the second leg of the first-place 200 medley relay...  Finished second in the 100 breast (54.35) and third in the 200 breast (2:00.06) against California... Won the 200 breast against Stanford (1:58.29)... against Washington, won the 100 breast (55.62) and swam the second leg of the first-place 200 medley relay... Broke the school record in the 100 breast at the 2005 Texas Invitational (52.87) and swam the second leg of the first-place 400 medley relay... Also finished fourth in the 200 breast (1:59.24)... Finished second in the 50 free against UCSB...  Against USC, won the 200 breast (2:00.99) and swam the second leg of the first-place 400 medley relay... Won the 100 and 200 breast during the season opener against Wisconsin, while contributing to two first-place relays.

 

2004-05 Season: Was an All-American in three events... At the 2005 NCAA Championships, swam the second leg of the second-place 400 medley relay, finished 10th in the 100 breast (53.95), and finished 12th in the 200 breast (1:57.88)...  At the 2005 Pac-10 Championships, finished ninth in the 100 breast (55.59) and swam the second leg of the fourth-place 400 medley relay... Against ASU, won both the 100 (56.44) and 200 breast... Placed second in the 100 breast (55.77) against SMU and Texas and tied for second place in the 200 breast (2:01.98)... Against Stanford, swam the second leg of the second-place 400 medley relay and finished second in the 200 breast (2:02.89)... Won the 200 breast (2:02.65) against Cal... Was second in the 200 breast (2:02.40) against Washington and Northwestern... Also finished third in the 200 IM (1:53.95)... Was second in the 200 breast (2:04.47) against British Colombia... At the 2004 Texas Invitational, swam the second leg of the first-place 200 medley relay, tied for first-place in the 100 breast with teammate Dave Rollins... Against USC, finished second in the 100 breast (55.92)... Against Wisconsin, won the 100 breast (56.05) and the 200 breast (2:02.62)... Also swam the second leg of the first-place 200 medley relay against Wisconsin.

 

National/ International Competition: 2006: Competed at Senior Nationals over the summer in the 100 and 200-yard breast. 2005 ?- Competed at Senior Nationals placing fourth in the 100-meter breast (1:02.28).

 

Prep: Team captain his senior year where he made the 5A all-region and all- state teams...Was a 12-time All-America team member...Holds school records in three events including the 100 fly, 100 breast and 50 free...At the regional meet his senior year, won the 100 fly and the 100 breast...Also, was first in the 100 fly and the 100 breast at the 2004 State Championships...Was a two-time Dallas Morning News Swimmer of the Year... Swam for the City of Plano Swimmers Club where he finished first in the 100m breast at sectionals.

 

Personal: Born Ivan Carson Barnes on Sept. 23, 1985, in Denton, Texas...Son of Erik Barnes and Pamela Bryant... Father graduated from Yale University and mother graduated from the University of Texas... Major is mechanical engineering.
