TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona women's golf team is ranked No. 2 in the latest edition of the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, the College Golf Foundation announced on Wednesday. Wildcat freshman Lorena Ochoa is rated the country's top golfer.

The Wildcats took first place at the Wildcat Invitational by posting a team total of 875 and first place at the TRW Regional Challenge with a three-round score of 884.

Duke, who finished in 3rd place behind Arizona and Stanford at the Wildcat Invitational, is ranked No. 1.

Freshman Lorena Ochoa held onto the nation's top individual ranking after winning medalist honors last month at the Wildcat Invitational and finishing in 2nd place at the TRW Regional Challenge. Ochoa was named the Rolex College Golfer of the Month for the third time this season in February, marking only the third time in the six-year history of the CGF that has occurred (Jenna Daniels of Arizona - 1999-2000, Tiger Woods of Stanford - 1995-96).

Following a month that saw her win her first collegiate tournament and finish in 5th place at the Wildcat Invitational, freshman Natalie Gulbis is ranked No. 3. Gulbis fired a three-round total of 214 to win the TRW Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. Also ranked in the top-15 is junior Cristina Baena, who currently holds a stroke average of 74.57.

Other Wildcats ranked include sophomore Anne Lee at No. 54, sophomore Laura Myerscough at No. 64 and senior Christina Monteiro at No. 82.

Arizona is out of action until March 27, when it travels to Honolulu for the Rainbow/Wahine Invitational.
