Honolulu, Hawaii. ?- The Arizona women’s tennis team will compete in its final tournament of the fall when it travels to the University of Hawaii for the first-ever Rainbow Wahine Tennis Invitational. Play begins Thursday, Nov. 11, at the newly renovated UH Tennis Complex.
Unlike other fall tournaments, the format of play will be dual matches, rather than crowning individual and doubles champions. Of Arizona’s eight rostered players, each will be making the trip, with the exception of sophomore Jessie Rochefort who is still nursing an injury.
Arizona will begin play Thursday against Texas A&M, then play host Hawaii on Friday, and finally face Texas State Saturday.
The fall has not been favorable for the Wildcats, thus far, despite having the No. 7 ranked singles player in senior Dianne Hollands, and the No. 1 ranked doubles team with Hollands and fellow senior Maja Mlaka. Hollands has been the only Wildcat to win a championship match, which came in the Baylor Invitational consolation bracket.
On the bright side for the Cats, six of the seven players who have competed in the fall have posted winning records.
After the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Arizona will next play Jan. 23 at Northern Arizona.
