Women's Golf Ties for Sixth at NCAA Preview

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. ?C The Arizona womenˇ?s golf team tied for sixth at the Margaret Branch NCAA Preview, hosted by the University of New Mexico. The Wildcats carded a three-over 295 in the final round to tie with Auburn, giving Arizona a score of 885 (+9) after 54 holes of play.

Duke claimed the team victory with a final score of 860 (-16), only stroke ahead of Southern California.

Dewi Claire Schreefel of Southern Cal claimed in the individual crown after carding a six under 67 in the final round.

For the Wildcats, senior Alison Walshe finished in third place with a final score of 209 (-10). The Westford, Mass., native shot a three-under 70 on Wednesday to grab her second top-10 finish of the season. Walshe shot every round under par, which included fourteen birdies and one eagle.

Junior Adriana Zwanck tied for 21st place with a score of 221 (+2).? Senior Mary? Jacobs carded an even 73 in the final round to finish in a tie for 42nd place.

Freshman Alejandra Llaneza tied for 61st place with a 230 (+11) after three rounds of play. Junior Amanda Wilson finished in 88th place with a score of 243 (+24).

The Wildcats will next be in action when they head to Seattle, Washington to compete in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational beginning on October 8th.
