Women?s Golf Struggles in New Mexico

LAS CRUSES, N.M. ?- The women’s junior varsity golf team is competing at Price’s “Give ?'Em Five” intercollegiate in Las Curses, N.M., Monday and Tuesday.  After two rounds of golf on Monday, the Wildcats are in 21st place. 

 

In the first round the Cats shot a +38 (326).  Currently Arizona finds itself +64 (640) heading into the third and final round tomorrow.  The Cats showed improvement in the second round, shooting a +26 (314), twelve strokes better than their first round score.

 

Whitney Welch, the only senior competing for the Wildcats, shot a +5 (77) in round one, and a +7 (79) in round two, she sits in a tie for 54th place.

 

In round one junior Rachel Gavin struggled with a +11 (83), but Gavin came back in round two and shot a +3 (75).

 

Also competing for the Cats are freshmen Brittany Pepler, Brooke Schneider and Marisa Smith. 

 

The Wildcats tee off tomorrow at 8 a.m. tomorrow for the third and final round.
