TUCSON, Ariz.- The Arizona women's tennis team has three individuals listed among the top 100 singles players in the preseason Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings released this week by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Sophomores Maja Mlakar and Dianne Hollands, along with junior Debbie Larocque are all listed in the preseason rankings. Mlakar and Larocque are also among the top 50 doubles teams in the poll.

Mlakar is the highest ranked of the three Wildcat individuals with a No.13 preseason ranking. The No.1 player for the Wildcats a year ago, she finished the 2001-02 season with 23 victories and final ranking of 17th after helping to lead Arizona to the second round of the NCAA championship tournament.

Doubles partner Larocque, who finished last year ranked 59th, will enter this season ranked No. 42, while Hollands places 85th in the preseason poll.

Teaming up in doubles play, Mlakar and Larocque are part of a top six that includes five doubles teams from the Pac-10 Conference alone. The Arizona pair enter the 2002-03 season as the fourth-ranked doubles team, trailing only teams from Vanderbilt, USC and Arizona State. Teams Stanford and California round out the top six in the poll.

The Arizona women's tennis team opens its fall season Sept. 27 in Houston, Texas, at the Rice Invitational.
