TUCSON, Ariz.- The No. 16 Arizona volleyball team continued its dominance over the Oregon State Beavers with a 30-27, 30-28, 30-20, win in the final home match of the season on Saturday.
Arizona's 13th-straight win over the Beavers pushed its season record to 15-9 overall and 10-6 in the Pac-10. The struggling Beavers, an NCAA Tournament team last season, fell to 7-18 overall and 2-14 in the Pac-10 with the loss.
Offensively, Arizona hit .350 as a team to OSU's .175. Defensively, the Wildcats had 46 digs to the Beavers 36 and out-blocked them 7 to 3.
Individually, seniors Lisa Rutledge and Shannon Torregrosa closed out their UA home careers with 14 and 12 kills, respectively. Torregrosa hit .333 on the night and also assisted on four blocks, while Rutledge came up with eight digs in the win. Classmate Laurie Gardner dished out a match-high 48 assists and also chipped in with four kills and four digs.
Freshman Kim Glass provided instant offense off of the Arizona bench with nine kills on 11 swings with just two errors for a .636 hitting percentage. She played a limited role in the front row in the match due to a slight calf strain.
Arizona, which has four matches remaining in the regular season, will take to the road next week for a pair of matches in Los Angeles to close out the conference schedule. The Wildcats will take on No. 2 USC on Thursday and No.19 UCLA on Friday. Thursday's match against USC can be seen on a taped delay basis next weekend on Fox Sports Net.
