SORRENTO, Fla. - Freshman Nikki Koller shot a 1-under round of 71 to push Arizona into a tie for 10th place after one round of the UCF Challenge, Sunday afternoon at the Red Tail Golf Club.
Koller was one of 11 players in the field to shoot 71 and share 12th place overall. Jessica Ladzocky of Florida took the first day individual lead with a 6-under 66 while three others share 2nd place after shooting 68.
Arizona is tied with Pepperdine after posting a team total of 5-over 293 on day one of the three-day, 54-hole event. UCLA leads the way at 6-under 282 while Arizona State is two shots back and both Oklahoma State and LSU are four shots off the pace.
Sophomore Alejandra Llaneza is in a crowd one shot behind Koller at even par for her opening 18 holes. Freshman Margarita Ramos shot 74 (+2) for her opening round while Isabelle Boineau carded a 76 (+4). Brittany Benvenuto rounded out the five-player squad at 77 (+5).
