TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men's basketball player Solomon Hill received all-district honors, as the National Association of Basketball Coaches announced its all-district awards today.
Hill was a first-team all-District 20 selection in voting done by member coaches. He was joined on the first team by Jorge Gutierrez of California, Jared Cunningham of Oregon State, Terrence Ross of Washington and Brock Motum of Washington State.
A 6-foot-6, 226-pound junior forward from Los Angeles, Calif., Hill averages 12.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in 34 appearances (all starts). He leads Arizona in rebounding, field goal percentage (.505/146-of-289) and assists (87), and his three-point field goal percentage (.382/34-of-89) is a career best. He has scored in double figures a team-leading 26 times, including three games with 20 or more points, and notched 11 double-doubles.
A 2012 first-team all-Pac-12 honoree, Hill leads the Wildcats in minutes played (32.2 mpg) and has started 77 consecutive games for Arizona.
Hill's selection marked the 91st Arizona player to earn all-district honors from the NABC since 1952. He now is eligible for NABC All-America honors, which will be announced on March 20.
Arizona (23-11, 12-6 Pac-12) will next be in action on Wednesday, March 14, in the 2012 National Invitation Tournament. The No. 1 seed Wildcats face No. 8 seed Bucknell at 6 p.m. PDT. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN2.
