OJAI, Calif. - After day one of the Pac-10 Championships, Arizona had disappointing results in the singles championship draw. Results in the singles invitational draw were better for the Wildcats with Natalia Toporowska advancing onto the third round.

The Wildcats number one player, Danielle Steinberg, fell in the first round to California's Cristina Visico, 6-3, 7-5. Juliette Mavroleon took down Stanford's Whitney Deason in the first round, 6-2, 6-2. In the second round, Mavroleon fell to USC's Lindsey Nelson, 6-4, 6-2.

In the invitational draw, both Toporowska and Katie Orletsky advanced past the first round. Toporowska will continue in play tomorrow as her second round opponent withdrew due to injury. Orletsky fell in the second round.

Joining Toporowska in action tomorrow will be the Orletsky to pair up for the doubles invitational draw. Now out of singles, Mavroleon and Steinberg will focus on the doubles championship draw.
