EL PASO, Texas - Arizona golfers Ricky Barnes and Chris Nallen both shot final-rounds of 2-under-par 69 Tuesday in the final round of the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic. The duo shared 15th place in the 24-man field.
Barnes, a senior from Stockton, Calif., and Nallen, a junior from Blairstown , N.J., each finished at 9-over-par 222.
After both posted 36-hole totals of 153 Monday, the two Wildcats rebounded in Tuesday's final round with the third best individual scores of the day. Only rounds of 3-under-par 68 by Ryan Hybl of Georgia and Minnesota's Matt Anderson were better than Barnes' and Nallen's final-round totals.
Adam Rubinson of Texas Christian won the tournament title as he led the event wire-to-wire. Rubinson, a senior, closed the tournament with a 54-hole total of 5-under-par 208. Brendon De Jonge of Virginia Tech and Georgia's Hybl shared third at even-par 213.
The tournament, held at El Paso Country Club, featured 24 of the nation's top individual golfers and did not include a team scoring component.
The Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic marks the final competition for the Arizona's men's golf program this fall. The team last competed at the Collegiate Match Play Championship on Nov. 10, where it took third place. The spring season opens Feb. 3 when Arizona plays host to the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate.
