TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The Arizona softball family returned to Hillenbrand Stadium for the Alumni Game that pitted the 1996 national championship squad against the rest of the alumni.  The 1996 squad, which won the exhibition by a x-x tally, was powered by 1996 Honda Award winner Jenny Dalton.

Dalton had a banner day, as she captured the home run derby and hit a game-winning three-run homer.

In addition to Dalton’s first-inning blast, the ’96 squad tacked some more runs on the board with Alison Johnsen-McCutcheon’s two-run single in the second frame.

UA All-Americans Jennie Finch, Toni Mascarenas, Lauren Bauer, Becky Lemke, Nancy Evans, Alison Johnsen-McCutcheon, Leticia Pineda, Brandi Shriver, Amy Chellevold, Jamie Heggen, Susie Parra and Julie Jones were on hand.

The current Wildcats will open their season this Friday against Cal State Northridge at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz.  No. 5 Arizona will play six games at the Kajikawa, including a match-up against No. 3 Texas on Saturday, Feb. 11.
