Liaw’s final-round 69 makes him the top-finishing Wildcat

               

TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The University of Arizona posted a two-under 282 total Tuesday to finish in 10th place at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala.

 

Arizona’s 282 tally Tuesday gave the team a three-round total of 860 (+8) and placed the Wildcats 10th in the field of 12 teams.  The final-round score and tournament total were season lows for the Wildcats.  UA finished 32 strokes behind tournament-winner Georgia Tech (828).  Georgia (834) and UAB (842) rounded out the top three places.

 

Junior Henry Liaw carded a final-round 69 to finish with a three-round total of 213 (E) and a tie for 22nd place.  The 69 was his low round of the season.  Sophomore Trey Denton posted a tie for 27th place at one-over 214 after a one-over 72 on Tuesday.

 

Freshman Nicholas Park tied fro 42nd place at 218 (+5), while freshman Ben Fox tied for 47th place at 220 (+7).  Junior Josh Wilks tied for 56th place with a three-round total of 225 (+12).

 

The Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate was contested at Old Overton Club, a par-71, 6,958-yard layout.  Arizona will next be in action, Oct. 31-Nov. 1, at the CordeValle Invitational in San Martin, Calif.
