TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona women's golf B-team stands in 15th place Saturday after two rounds of play on its first day of competition at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
The Wildcats shot a 38-over-par 614 to trail leader Denver by 26 strokes after the Pioneers shot a 12-over-par 588. Iowa State (588) occupies second. Portland State (595) and San Diego State (595) are tied for third place. To round out the top-five, Kansas (599) and Washington State (599) are tied in fifth.
Sophomore Cassandra Kirkland and Katie Christy are tied in 33rd after carding 151(+7). Christy shot her best round, this season, by hitting 1-under-par 71 in this afternoon's second round.
Freshman Rachel Gavin is tied in 50th place after shooting 9-over-par 153 in the first two rounds. Sophomore Whitney Welch is tied in 73rd after carding 159 (+15).
The Wildcats will tee off in Sunday's final round beginning at an 8:00 a.m. MST shot-gun start. The tournament is being played at Mountain View Golf Club, a par 72, 5,982-yard layout.
