Cats Set for Bruin/Wave Invitational

TUCSON - The No. 7 Arizona Wildcat women's golf team will continue the spring season with the Bruin/Wave Invitational. Held at Robinson Ranch Golf Club in Santa Clarita, Calif., competition will take place Mon.-Wed., Feb. 28- March 2. Tee time is set for 8:30 a.m. PT on Monday and Tuesday and an 8 a.m. start is scheduled for Wednesday.

Along with the hosting No. 3 UCLA Bruins and No. 23 Pepperdine Waves, also scheduled to compete are No. 7 Arizona, BYU, Cal State-Northridge, Long Beach State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, No. 23 Oklahoma State, Oregon State, San Diego State, Stanford, No. 25 Texas, UNLV and Washington State.

At the Bruin/Wave Invitational, senior Alejandra Llaneza, juniors Isabelle Boineau, Nikki Koller and Margarita Ramos and freshman Haley Andreas will be playing for the Wildcats.

In the most recent rankings, released Feb. 24, 2011, Arizona sits at No. 7 and is one of five Pac-10 teams listed in the top 25 with USC at No. 2, UCLA at No. 3, California at No. 9 and Arizona State at No. 10.

In the most recent National Golf Coaches' Association (NGCA)/Golf World poll, released on Oct., 28, 2010, Arizona sits at No. 9 and is one of five Pac-10 schools listed in the top 25 with USC at No. 3, UCLA at No. 4, California at No. 7 and Oregon at No. 24.

In the most recent version of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, released Feb., 20, 2011, the Wildcats sit at No. 10 and are one of five Pac-10 schools listed in the top 25 with USC at No. 2, UCLA at No. 3, California at No. 5 and Arizona State at No. 9. Individually, junior Isabelle Boineau ranks No. 24 and junior Margarita Ramos sits at No. 35 in the Golfweek/Sagarin poll.

On Feb. 7-8, Arizona came away with the win at the Wildcat Invitational. The two-day, three-round event was held at The Golf Club at Vistoso (par 72, 6,250 yards). Arizona won the team race with a three-round score of 875 (286-286-303) (+11). Junior Isabelle Boineau won the individual title with a three-round total of 212 (-4). She carded scores of 69, 70 and 73.

For their wins at the Wildcat Invitational, junior Isabelle Boineau and the Arizona squad were honored by Golf Week as their Player of the Week and Team of the Week (2/14), respectively. Boineau was also named the Golf World Player of the Week (2/14).
