Head coach Niya Butts and the Arizona women’s basketball team (6-3) return to McKale Center to host Weber State (0-7) on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. The Wildcats have played five-straight road games and return home for the first time since Nov. 20.
Arizona is coming off a 58-53 defeat of New Mexico in The Pit last Saturday. In the contest, junior Kama Griffitts (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho) led all scorers with 16 points while senior Davellyn Whyte (Phoenix, Ariz.) had 13 and junior Erica Barnes (Sacramento, Calif.) added 11.
Junior Alli Gloyd (Phoenix, Ariz.) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
The Weber State Wildcats, under second-year head coach Bethann Ord, have started the season 0-7, led by freshman guard Desiree Ramos’ 8.4 ppg. The Wildcats will take on Wyoming in Laramie, Wy. on Friday night.
The teams are an even 4-4 in the all-time series dating back to 1975, including a 2-2 mark at McKale Center. Arizona won the last matchup in 2005 at McKale Center, 80-53.
