Four Wildcat Gymnasts Named Academic All-Pac-10

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ?- Arizona gymnast Karin Wurm has been named to the Pac-10 Conference All-Academic First Team, Commisioner Tom Hansen announced on Tues

day. Teammates Aubrey Taylor, Danielle Hicks and Rachelle Silberg each earned honorable mention recognition.

 

The academic accolade is a first for Wurm, a sophomore. The 5-4 native of Landenberg, Pa., carries a 3.87 grade point average as a pre-business major. Earlier this year, the all-arounder was also named Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week for the first time in her career.

 

Taylor, an accounting major, earned academic honorable mention recognition for the second time in her career. The 5-2 junior was also named to the All-Pac-10 academic team in 2005. Earlier this year, Taylor

was named Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week for the first time in her career.

 

 Hicks and Silberg, both sophomores, received academic recognition for

Sophomore Rachelle Silberg
the first time in their careers. Hicks, a physiological sciences major, has competed in the all-around in 10 of the Wildcats’ 12 meets this season. Silberg, a marketing major, has been a mainstay in the team’s vault lineup throughout the season.

 

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

 

The Wildcats will travel to Ames, Iowa, next week to compete at the 2006 North Central Regional Championships on April 8.
