TUCSON, ARIZ. ?- Sommer Scholl (Riverside, Calif./ Martin Luther King High School) and Lauren Espinosa (Hickory Creek, Texas/ Lake Dallas High School) have signed National Letters-of-Intent to attend the University of Arizona in the fall of 2005, head coach Greg Allen announced Sunday.

"We are very excited about both Sommer and Lauren and feel like they will come in here and not only play for us right away, but make a major impact,” Allen said of the recruits. “They are very consistent players and work hard on improving their game everyday.”

The Texas 3A 2004 state champion, Espinosa, is currently ranked 17th in the latest edition of the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index junior rankings. She is a five-time player of the year for the Texas Junior Golf Tour. A member of the 2003 USA Junior Girls Solheim Cup, Espinosa earned AJGA Polo All-American honors twice.

“Lauren was recruited by everybody, but committed to us in May,” Allen said of Espinosa. “She has a very impressive resume and has a chance to come in here and do something really special."

Scholl, a winner of eight national junior golf tournaments over the last two years, was named a 2001-02 Junior Tour All-American.  Sommer has one of the smoothest golf swings in the game -- at any level,” Allen commented on his new signee.

The Wildcats are currently competing at the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. The tournament will conclude the Wildcats’  fall season.
