ITA Women's Western Regionals: The Arizona women's tennis team will travel to San Diego, Calif. this week to compete in the 2003 ITA Women's Western Regional Championships. San Diego State will play host to the regional tournament. The main draw is preceded by one qualifying tournament. The 37-player (17 doubles) qualifying tournament will start on Oct. 23 and sixteen players and eight doubles teams will advance from there to the 64-player qualifying tournament.

Making the Trip: Traveling for Arizona this week will be senior Debbie Larocque, juniors Dianne Hollands, Maja Mlakar and Kelly Perry, sophomore Iza Ferreira, and freshman Kasia Jakowlew.

Qualifying Tournament: Freshman Kasia Jakowlew will receive a first round bye and will go on to the second round to play Cal State - Northridge's Moe Moe Myinton.

Main Draw Singles: Junior Kelly Perry will begin in the first round of the main-draw tournament against a qualifying winner. Junior Maja Mlakar will enter the main-draw tournament as the No. 3 seed player. She will compete against USC's Erica Sauer. Junior Dianne Hollands will begin the tournament as the No. 4 seed. Her first opponent will also be a qualifying winner. Sophomore Iza Ferreira will also begin in main draw competition against a qualifying winner. The final competitor for the Wildcats in the main draw will be Senior Debbie Larocque. She will compete in the first round against LMU's Robyn Baker.

Main Draw Doubles: The Wildcats will be competing three doubles teams in the main draw tournament. Perry will be competing with Ferreira, while Larocque will team up with Jakowlew. The pair of Hollands and Mlakar will enter the main draw tournmanent as the No. 4 seeded doubles team.

Last Tournament: In the ITA All-American, juniors Maja Mlakar and Dianne Hollands fell in first round action of the Main-draw tournament.
