The Event: The top-ranked Arizona womens swimming and diving team will travel to Long Island, N.Y., for the 2001 NCAA Division I Championships. The competition will run from Thursday, March 15 through Saturday, March 17 and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference will be the host. The 20th annual event , with over 200 competitors, will be held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center. The meet will feature the nations best swimmers and divers, including former and future Olmypians.

Pac-10 Championships: The Wildcat women finished second at the 2001 Pac-10 Championships held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. Arizona took home the runner-up spot with1,289.50 points. UCLA won the conference title, with 1,338 points, and Southern California came in third place with 1,112.50 points. Arizonas lone Pac-10 champion was the 400 free relay team. The relay team consisted of juniors Jenny Vanker, Caroline Kilian and Sarah Tolar and freshman Kristen Brennan. The Wildcats touched the wall in a time of 3:18.39.
Also impressive for the Cats were sophomores Amanda Beard and Beth Botsford. Beard placed second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:01.63, second in the 200 breast (2:12.66) and third in the 200 IM (2:00.64). Botsford had a strong showing in Washington, she was the runner-up in the 200 back (1:56.03) and finished in third place in the 100 back with a time of 54.63. Arizonas 800 free relay team, made up of Kilian, Tolar, Vanker and junior Katie Zimbone, placed second with the time of 7:12.26.
Zone E Diving Championships: Two Wildcat divers qualified for this years NCAA Championships at the Zone E Diving Championships in Federal Way, Wash. Senior Lindsay Berryman placed third on the platform event, scoring 423.95 points. Fellow senior Adrian David qualified for the meet on the one meter, posting 261.00 points to take fifth place.

Rankings: The women enter the meet ranked No. 1 in the nation in the March 8 edition of the Speedo America College Swimming Coaches Association top-25 poll. Last season the women finished in second place at the 2000 NCAA Championships held in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Facts: The women finished the 1999-2000 season in second place at the NCAA Championships behind the Georgia Bulldogs. The womens team won the Pac-10 title in the 1999-2000 season, becoming the first team ever to take home the title besides the Stanford Cardinal. The final dual meet record for the women was 9-2 and 4-1 in the Pac-10. The women return 21 letterwinners after losing only seven.
