We just wrapped up our first two competitions at home in the McKale Center!  It was so much fun to finally be at home competing in front of our home town fans.  Both competitions had over 1,000 fans, which we were pretty excited to see!

Our first home meet was against Cal Berkeley.  This was a good competition since it was against a fellow Pac-10 team, and as we all know, all of the Pac-10 schools have great gymnastics programs.  I’m happy to say that we finally have a win under our belts!  It was great because we have been working so hard, and it has been reflecting in our scores.  Our final team score was 195.875, which was our new season high!  This launched us up to #10 in the national rankings... an incredible feat!  Vault was led by Karin and Bree’s 9.825’s, and bars was led by Aubrey’s 9.9.  Beam was led by Beamer’s 9.85 (a new career high) and floor was led by Alexis’s, Danielle’s, and Erin’s 9.825’s. It was a great home meet, and I can tell that the freshman were so excited to see what it was like to compete at home!

The second home meet was last week versus Washington, another great Pac-10 school.  Although our score wasn’t as high as the first home meet, we still scored above a 195, and received a 195.325.  Vault was led by Bree’s 9.775, and bars was led by Aubrey and Danielle’s 9.825’s.  The high score on beam for us this meet was Beamer, this time with a 9.9, another career high!  The winner on floor was Alexis, with her 9.875.  I have to say that her full-in was extra high tonight as well!  We had a couple of rough spots in the meet, but it was good to see that we never gave up and that we kept fighting.  I know this type of attitude is what will carry us throughout the season.

It may be hard to believe, but we’re not even half way through the season yet!  Wow!  This weekend we are headed up to Corvallis, Oregon to compete against the Oregon State Beavers.  We all know that they are waiting and are ready for us, especially since they had the weekend off of competition last weekend.  We feel prepared and ready to go though!  After that we will be competing next Friday in Stanford, and then we’ll be home again on February 24th!  Make sure to keep checking in on our scores and routines and to keep cheering for us!  Hopefully we’ll hear it all the way up in Oregon!  Until next time, BEAR DOWN!!!
