TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The Arizona Football team capped off the first week of spring drills on Friday with a two-hour practice session. The session was the third of 15 spring days allowed by the NCAA. The Wildcats held their first spring practice Monday.
The squad practiced for the first time in full pads on Friday. The team went through the standard drills including special teams, 7-on-7, 11-on-11 and individuals.
Head Coach Mike Stoops noted he was impressed with the play of the red shirt freshmen. “The red shirts will come in and make a difference. Guys like Dillon Hansen, Joe Longacre and Brandon Lopez I have really been impressed with. They will have a good opportunity.”
Arizona will return to the practice field on Saturday to hold the first of three scrimmages of the spring on Saturday. The Saturday scrimmages, which begin at 9:15 a.m. (MST), are open to the public. The practice will be held at the Jimenez Practice Facility located on the Arizona campus. The weekday practices remain closed to the general public. The annual spring game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Arizona Stadium on April 23.
