Wildcats to host an elite 13-team field
TUCSON, Ariz. + The University of Arizona men’s golf team returns to action, March 27-29, as it hosts the 2005 Wal-Mart National Invitation Tournament at Omni Tucson National Resort and Spa.
The 2005 Wal-Mart National Invitational Tournament is a three-day, 54-hole event, which will be contested at Tucson National’s Orange and Gold nines, a par 72, 7,094-yard layout, the same layout used in the PGA Tour’s Chrysler Classic of Tucson. Eighteen holes will be played each day beginning on Sunday, March 27. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. MST on Sunday and Monday. Tuesday’s final round will begin at 7 a.m.
Nine of the 13 teams in the field are currently ranked in the GCAA/Bridgestone Top-25 Coaches Poll. The following teams (ranking) are scheduled to compete: Arizona (21), Arizona JV, Arizona State (12), Arkansas, Kent State (24), Minnesota (20), New Mexico (4), Pepperdine, TCU (9), Tulsa, UNLV (15), USC (6), and Washington (23).
The Wildcats, currently ranked 21st in the most recent GCAA/Bridgestone Top-25 Coaches Poll, finished as the runner-up in this event last season.
