TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona football team returned to the gridiron Tuesday afternoon for its seventh spring practice session. Head coach John Mackovic and the Arizona assistant coaches put the Wildcats through a rigorous, fast-paced practice, as the players worked out in full pads for over two hours.
The Wildcats worked in several full-line and seven-on-seven passing and rushing sessions for much of the afternoon. Both the offensive and defensive units continued to install new plays into the team's respective schemes.
"We threw so much at the players today," Mackovic said. "Offensively, we worked a lot, and the defense worked a lot with our nickel packages. Overall, the players did a really nice job."
Arizona has eight practices remaining on the spring football schedule. The Wildcats are scheduled to practice on Thursday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m., in UA's practice facility. The team will then move from the practice facility to Arizona Stadium for the annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m.
UA is allowed 15 spring practices under NCAA guidelines and will conclude sessions with the team's final practice on Thursday, April 24.
All spring practices are open to the public. Most are scheduled on the practice facility at North Campbell Avenue and Enke Drive, across from McKale Center, but the Spring Game and some other sessions will be held in Arizona Stadium.
