TUCSON, Ariz.- Petar Danolic has been named Arizona's new assistant women's tennis coach, head coach Vicky Maes announced today. A 2000 graduate of Texas Tech, Danolic will be responsible for recruiting, admissions and player development for the team.

"I am very pleased that Petar is joining our program," said Maes. "Petar understands every aspect of the game, has experience working with players from all over the world and has lived the college environment as an elite NCAA competitor himself."

A native of Sarajevo, Bosnia, Danolic competed for the Red Raiders' tennis team in Lubbock, Texas, while working towards his degree exercise and sports science and technology. He was named All-Southwest Conference and garnered honorable mention All-Big 12 honors during his playing career.

Upon graduation he served as an instructor at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Fla., where he worked until his hiring at Arizona. While in Florida he helped shape several top national and international junior players.

"Petar is committed to take UA tennis to the next level and help make this group a national contender," said Maes. "His positive attitude and energy will have an impact immediately. His perspective is invaluable and I feel his ideas fit our program's goals perfectly."

Danolic replaces Simone Thibodeaou on the coaching staff.
