Fresno State vs. Arizona

McKale Center- Game #3
Arizona Head Coach Joan Bonvicini
"Overall, I was very pleased with the effort in today's game. I was disappointed with the amount of turnovers we committed in the first half. I thought we really picked it up in the second half and played very unselfishly and smart. (Senior guard) Reshea Bristol played a great game and has really risen as the team leader. (Freshman guard) Aimee Gryzb played her best game as a Wildcat thus far."
"We mixed it up on defense. We made it a point to stop (Fresno State guard) Lindsay Logan and we did a good job of limiting her to only three three pointers. Fresno State is a young team that is very athletic and will continue to improve over the season."
On Junior forward Elizabeth Pickney:
"She has become a very versatile player for us. She has begun to raise her game to another level. In practice we have been working with her to extend her game to the perimeter and the three-pointer that she made was a product of her hard work."
On 6-1 record:
"I believed we could be 6-1 at this point in the season. I didn't anticipate our young players progressing as fast as they have been. I think at times we are playing a lot better then I thought we would and it bodes well for the rest of the season."
"They are a good team with great perimeter shooters. It will be a tough test for us."
On the finals week ahead:
"This was a good victory. We have a week off now to bear down and study hard. We have a stretch coming up where we have four games in five days so we need to get back out on the court starting Tuesday and prepare for the week ahead."
Arizona Player Quotes:
Forward Elizabeth Pickney
"In the first half we didn't play very well as a team. In the second half we adjusted our game. We took care of the ball more. We worked on defense all this week and last week. First half we gave the ball up but second half we played better. First half we had 14 turnovers, I think we had so many because we were all so excited. We didn't have a good warm up which could of effected our game."
On her three point shot:
"The coaches kept telling me to shoot the three. I had no hesitation, if they tell me to do it, I'm going to do it. It was awesome. It was my first three point shot in a game."
Guard Reshea Bristol:
On winning the MVP award:
"I think I worked hard and I deserve it. Anyone on our team could of gotten it, we all worked hard."
"In the first half we had a lot of turnovers. I had four turnovers in the first half, but in the second half I didn't have any. I knew I would have to come in the game second half and work on my turnovers. We all came in the second half and played better basketball."
"We are going to be playing good teams in the next couple of weeks. Were going to play Louisville at home next week. Bowling Green and Fresno State are good teams, but we just wanted the win more."
