STANFORD, Calif. - The top-ranked Arizona Wildcats women's golf team shot a second-round of 293 to maintain its hold on first place at the Stanford/Pepsi Invitational. The Wildcats' two day total of 570 puts them 12 strokes ahead of second-place Southern California and host Stanford.
Freshmen Lorena Ochoa and Natalie Gulbis share first place with Tulsa's Stacy Prammanasudh with two-day totals of 140. Ochoa shot a two-over-par 74 Saturday, while Gulbis carded a one-over 73. Junior Cristina Baena also checks in in the top-10. Baena carded a one-over-par 73 to put her at ninth place with a two-day total of 143.
Also scoring for the Wildcats in the second round was Christina Monteiro, who shot a six-over 78 to come in at eight-over for the tournament. Monteiro is tied for 29th place. Junior Laura Myerscough shot a 73 to come in at nine-over for the tournament, good for a tie for 37th. Sophomore Anne Lee, who is competing as an individual, shot eight-over-par 80 to tie for 43rd place at 10-over on the tournament.
The Wildcats will look to claim the tournament title Sunday in the third and final round. Play begins at 8:30 a.m.
