LONG BEACH, Calif.- For the second time in three games Arizona's bats fell silent to the Long Beach State pitching staff. The Wildcats dropped their sixth straight road game of the season, 6-0, to the 49ers while managing only three hits in the game. The loss drops Arizona to 17-7 overall for the season while Long Beach improves to 10-6.
LBSU freshman starter Jered Weaver won the first game of his career in allowing just one hit over seven innings. He struck out eight Wildcat hitters and walked none. Arizona starter Marc Kaiser (3-1) picked up his first loss of the season, giving up all six runs in five innings of work.
The Wildcats, 16-1 at home this season, will return to Tucson to face UNC-Wilmington in a three game series beginning next Friday.
