TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona Volleyball started the year off today with its annual Red-Blue intrasquad scrimmage at McKale Center with the Red team topping its Blue counterparts, 3-1.
The Red team, comprised of mostly starters, were led by Whitney Dosty who accounted for 19 kills on .350 hitting through the four sets. Newcomer transfer Cursty Jackson also sparked her team with several powerful attacks on her way to 19 kills on 36 swings.
"It's always fun playing in this scrimmage because it means the start of the season is just about a week away," said Weber. "We're all very anxious to start things off against Cal Poly next week."
Courtney Karst, switching interchangeably for both the Red and Blue teams, also performed well with 15 kills and 7 digs. Danielle Holloway, the Wildcat starter at libero, totaled 16 digs on the afternoon.
"I liked the way our team came out and performed today," said head coach Dave Rubio. "I'm excited to get the season underway officially next week."
Arizona will take on Cal Poly on Friday to open the season in the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
