BOX SCORE??????????????Arizona Cumulative Statistics?

CORVALLIS , Ore. ?C ?The No. 8 Arizona Wildcats cashed in on 14 hits and a shutout pitching performance by Taryne Mowatt to beat Oregon State, 6-0, and give the Beavers their first home loss of the year here Friday afternoon.

?

Mowatt (15-7) gave up five hits, while striking out nine to earn the victory for the Cats.

?

Six Wildcats had two hits and Arizona (26-9, 3-1) started swinging the bats from the top. The loss dropped Oregon State to 2-3 in conference play.

?

Arizona had two runners in scoring position in the top of the first after hits by Lauren Schutzler and K'Lee Arredondo and a sacrifice by Jenae Leles, but Stacie Chambers flied out and Laine Roth struck out to strand both.

?

UA came right back in its top of the second with more pressure. Callista Balko hit a one-out single and moved to third when Cyndi Duran's grounder was thrown away by the pitcher, putting two runners in scoring position again. Adrienne Acton hit an infield single to load the bases and Schutzler singled in Balko. Arredondo hit a sac fly to plate Duran for a 2-0 lead.

?

The Cats put another runner on scoring position when Chambers doubled to lead off the third. A sacrifice by Roth moved her to third but on the next play she was thrown out trying to score on Sam Banister's bunt.

?

Mowatt had to strike out two batters with runners on first and second to quell an OSU threat in the third.

?

UA extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth with an unearned run, plus had a second runner thrown out at the plate. Duran singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. She scored on a throwing error by the third baseman that allowed Acton to reach second. She moved up on Schutzler's grounder, then was thrown out at home after tagging up on a fly ball by Arredondo to right fielder Katelyn Miller.

?

Mowatt got into a bit of a jam in the fourth when she gave up a single to Dani Chisholm and hit Deann Young with a pitch before getting two out. Stefanie Ewing drew a walk to load the bases, but Mowatt got Tarah Black on a called third strike.

?

Chambers had her second double with one out in the fifth and moved over on an infield grounder, but Banister flied out to strand her at third, spoiling another scoring opportunity.

?

The Cats picked up their final runs in the seventh off OSU starter Kelly Dyer (14-12) with a double by Arredondo, an RBI single by Laine Roth and a two-run home run by Banister, her fourth of the year.
