TUCSON - Head coach Laura Ianello and the University of Arizona Wildcat women's golf team have announced the addition of two National Letter of Intent student-athletes for the 2012-13 season. Both will join the Wildcat program as true freshmen.
Younjin Anna Kim is a native of Toronto, Canada and is ranked in the top 10 for the 2012 class. She was a member of the 2011 Wyndham Cup and was the winner of three American Junior Golf Association tournaments. Kim also participated in the LPGA Canadian Women's golf tournament.
Janie Jackson is a native of Huntsville, Ala. and is ranked in the top 20 of the 2012 class. She is also an American Junior Golf Association tour winner. Jackson competed in the U.S. Junior Championships and made it to the final 16. She recently played in the Navistar LPGA in Alabama and made the cut, shooting a 67 in the second round.
"I'm excited for both players because they have very impressive resumes and have both played in huge national events," Ianello said. "Janie is one of the longest ball strikers in junior golf and Anna has numerous experiences being in the winner's circle. I am proud that both young ladies have LPGA experience and both want to play golf as a future career. They have tons of possibility and potential which will help us be a national championship roster."
Arizona will open the spring portion of the season with the hosting of the Wildcat Invitational, Feb. 5-7, at the Golf Club at Vistoso.
