WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Arizona freshman golfer Erica Blasberg has been named Pac-10 Golfer of the Year and Freshman of the Year, conference officials announced Monday. Wildcat senior Laura Myerscough and sophomore Miriam Kraschinski were named Honorable Mention on the All-Conference team.

A freshman from Corona, Calif., Blasberg helped the Wildcats to a second-place finish in the 2003 Pac-10 Women's Golf Championships, held at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore. (April 24-26). Blasberg finished third overall, posting a 3-over-par 219. The finish was her sixth top-five effort of the season.

Blasberg has won two tournament events this year, including the Stanford-Pepsi Intercollegiate (Oct. 18-20), and the Wildcat Invitational (Feb. 24-26). The former American Junior Golf Association All-American boasts a stroke average of 72.13 in eight collegiate events this season.

Her inclusion on the All-Pac-10 First Team marks the eighth straight year an Arizona women's golfer has received such an honor. 2003 also marks the second time in the four-year history of the Freshman of the Year award that a Wildcat has been named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year. Blasberg joins Lorena Ochoa, who won that honor in 2001.

Myerscough tied for 10th place at the Pac-10 Conference Championship to earn her second top-10 and sixth top-25 finish of the season. The senior from Charleston, Ill., has a stroke average of 75.60. Kraschinski finished in the top five in 2002-03, including a win at the season-opening NCAA Fall Preview. The sophomore from Whitianga, New Zealand, owns a stroke average of 76.80.

Next up for Blasberg and the Wildcats women's golf team is the NCAA Regional Tournament, beginning on May 8.
