Wildcat Men's Golf Tied for Seventh at Las Vegas Collegiate After Round One

LAS VEGAS-The University of Arizona men's golf team posted a team round of 293 in the first round of action at the Las Vegas Collegiate Friday at Southern Highlands Golf Club. Individually, junior Reid Hatley and sophomore Chris Nallen carded opening rounds of even-par 72 and stand tied for 13th place after the first day of competition.

Georgia Tech opened the tournament with a team score of 1-under-par 287, Arizona is six strokes back in a tie for seventh place. Clark Corbett and Brien Davis, both of tournament host Nevada-Las Vegas, share the individual lead at 4-under-par 68.

Freshman Kipp Riehle also turned in a solid opening round, shooting 2-over-par 74 to claim a tie for 29th place. Junior Ricky Barnes carded an opening round of 3-over 75 and sits tied for 36th place.

Also competing for Arizona Friday was senior Tim Weiss. The senior from Mill Valley, Calif., used a first-round score of 7-over-par 79 to position himself in a tie for 65th place.

Tournament action continues Saturday with second-round play beginning at 8 a.m.
