MARIETTA, Ga . ?C The University of Arizona menˇ?s tennis team was tabbed as having the No. 19 best recruiting class for 2008 by tennisrecruiting.net.

The rankings serve as a preliminary list that will be finalized in May after the spring signing season.?

The poll was based on the rankings of several prestigious tennis media members, coaches and tournament directors.

ˇ?Itˇ?s nice to be honored for having a top 20 recruiting class,ˇ± said head coach Tad Berkowitz. ˇ?We also anticipate the next set of rankings to come out in the spring.ˇ±

The recruitment class is headed by Jason Zafiros, a five star recruit out of Bradenton, Fla., who is ranked No. 37 in the country.

The Pac-10 had four schools (including Arizona) that were ranked in the top 20 with the Stanford Cardinal receiving top billing.

ˇ?Our conference is one of the toughest in the nation, so itˇ?s important for us to be able to recruit some of the top high school players out there,ˇ± added Berkowitz.

The Cats began their dual match spring schedule last week and are currently 3-0 heading into Fridayˇ?s match against San Francisco.? The match which begins at 1 p.m. will be played at the Tucson Racquet Club.
