TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men's golf team sits in fourth place Sunday after two rounds of the Lone Star Invitational at Briggs Ranch in San Antonio, Texas.
Arizona tallied an even-par 288 Monday and carries a 569 (-7) total into tomorrow's final round. The Wildcats have fared well in San Antonio, as the team has been at par or better in both rounds of this event, marking the first time the squad has accomplished that feat since last season's NCAA Regional in May.
New Mexico leads the 54-hole event with a 16-under 560 tally, four shots ahead of Texas A&M. North Texas (567) is in third place and Baylor (570) stands fifth.
Houston's Roman Robledo holds the individual lead after 36 holes with an 11-under 133 total.
Sophomore Erik Oja continues to lead the way for Arizona, as the Sandviken, Sweden, native shot his second consecutive 68 (-4) to move into sole possession of fourth place with an eight-under 136 total. It is Oja's lowest score in relation to par In 17 career events at Arizona.
Teammate Trent Redfern, who is competing as an individual, currently is tied for ninth place after shooting a two-under 70 Monday en route to a three-under 141 total. Teammate Juan Pablo Hernandez remains in the top-20 places, as his two-under 142 total has him in a tie for 13th place. Hernandez has back-to-back 71s to his credit in this event.
Sophomore Chris Capo is tied for 28th place at one-over 145 after shooting a 75 (+3) Monday. Freshman Tucker Wadkins is tied for 36th place at two-over 146 after carding a two-over 74. Brenden Redfern is tied for 77th place at 154 (+10).
The Lone Star Invitational at Briggs Ranch continues through Tuesday at Briggs Ranch Golf Course, a par-72, 7,253-yard layout.
