SAN DIEGO ?- The Arizona women’s tennis team wrapped up an eventful weekend at the ITA West Regional tournament co-hosted by San Diego State University and University of San Diego on Sunday.

Representing the Wildcats on the final day of the tournament was senior Kasia Jakowlew and junior Camelia Todorova, as one of the final four pairs in the doubles tournament.  The Cat duo, the only non USC team left, was defeated by Anca Anastasiu and Julie Smekodub 8-0.

“It was great to see Kasia and Camelia play so well throughout this tournament,” head coach Vicky Maes said.  “Had Danielle not gotten hurt earlier, there may have been more than one Arizona doubles team in the final four.”

In the singles bracket, sophomore Danielle Steinberg made it all the way to the round of 16, but twisted her ankle in the match and was forced to retire.  Steinberg earned a No. 5 seed at the tournament.

The ITA Regional tournament consisted of six Wildcats, winning a total of four singles matches and five doubles matches.

The Wildcats will next hit the courts Nov. 3-5 for a tournament hosted by Harvard University.
